A copy of the receipt and/or your completed warranty card is required as proof of purchase.

Frequently Asked Questions

My watch doesn't fit. Can I exchange it?

Absolutely. Proper watch fit is critical, and we want to be sure you are completely satisfied.

Are your watches waterproof?

All of our watches are 3 ATMs minumum, meaning they are water resistant up to 100 ft. underwater.

What does the Shinola Guarantee cover? Is my strap/ PVD coating / case covered if I scratch or break it?

Every Shinola watch is guaranteed for life under the terms and conditions of our warranty. In case of defects covered by the warranty, all components (excluding battery, leather strap and buckle) will be repaired or the watch will be replaced free of charge. If the exact model is not available for replacement, a watch of equal value and similar style will be provided.

How do I set the time on a watch with a screw down crown?

Your Shinola watch has been built with a screw down crown, which improves the atmospheric seal and helps protect the high-accuracy quartz movement that powers the timepiece. To protect your investment, it's important to learn how this type of crown works. Do not attempt to pull out the screw down crown until you've unscrewed it from the case by turning it counterclockwise until it releases. Once released, follow the instructions for setting the time/date as described on pages 2-4 in our watch manual. To reseal the crown, press it in against the case until the threads engage, and turn clockwise until tight.

What are your watchstraps made from, and where are they built?

Our straps are made from two types of leather - Dublin and Cordovan - both produced by Horween Leather, a Chicago-based tannery in operation since 1905. Dublin leather, which the majority of our straps are made of, is a waxed leather that comes from top-quality cowhide, but uses the same tanning techniques as the cordovan shell. Genuine Cordovan comes from a specific part of horsehide and takes roughly 6 months to process. Once the leathers are treated and colored by Horween, they are sent to Florida to be manufactured in Hadley-Roma's 60,000 square foot facility.

How do I care for my watch and straps?

Each Shinola timepiece is designed and manufactured to the highest of standards. Unlike most other mechanical objects, a watch operates non-stop. In order to ensure optimal performance and longevity from your Shinola timepiece, please review the simple guidelines for care and precautions in the manual that came with your watch.

Are all your products made in America?

Our goal is to create Shinola products that are predominantly American made. Although a challenge today for numerous reasons, including the absence of at-scale American manufacturing for many of the components we need, we are working with like-minded partners to make it happen. At present, nearly all of our watchstraps, journals, and leather goods are sourced in the United States. Our watches and bicycles are 100% assembled in our Detroit factory with both domestic and internationally sourced components. Our hope is that we can cultivate a cottage industry of suppliers who will move their operations to Detroit in order to supply us with needed components. With hard work and collaboration, we believe we can establish ourselves as an iconic brand, while expanding the capacity - and reinvigorating the spirit - of manufacturing in America.
